Tutorial: Planyo set-up (2 / 3)
Fig 3. Second step - adding resources
After adding the court, you're taken to the resource (court) settings page. The settings available can vary depending on the site and resource type that was chosen. You will not see some of these settings if you're creating a site for a hotel or even if you chose the FREE site type. The different settings often have a tooltip help so we'll only go through the important ones here.

The allowed start quarters specify at what time it's possible to rent a court. E.g. selecting xx:00min and xx:30min allows clients to make a reservation starting at 10:00 or 10:30 but not at 10:15 or 10:20. If you only want clients to come at every full hour (9am, 10am, 11am etc.), leave the default setting (xx:00min only). Please note that this setting will determine the precision of the calendars. There are three versions: one without hours (days only), one with all hours and one with a quarter-precision. The 'reservation approval' option is very important and determines what the reservation process will look like for the user. You could for example require clients to have a password or confirm reservations with an online payment. By default, each reservation must be confirmed by the administrator who receives an email (or optionally an SMS or fax) after a new reservation is made and then he/she must go to the admin panel to either accept or reject the reservation.
See this FAQ question for more info about different approval possibilities.

Another option that is worth mentioning is resource sharing. This allows different persons to make a reservation for the same resource. E.g. in case of tennis courts, you might want to allow (in certain cases) 2 different players to reserve the same court. This might work well when there are people who are looking for a playing partner. This option could also be used in case of a hostel/dormitory where different visitors can reserve beds in the same room. In such case the resource (room) could be made available for sharing.

Number of courts (resources) defines how many resources of the same kind you have. If there are big differences between the resources (big enough that clients might want to reserve a specific one), you should add them as separate resources. If you decide to add multiple resources of the same kind, you as the admin still have the possibility to assign names (or numbers) to each unit and assign reservations to a specific unit. You can define unit names/numbers by clicking the button 'unit names' in the actions at the bottom of the page.

The action buttons allow you to specify additional resource settings or perform actions related to it:
- Upload/remove images - you should always add at least one image of each resource. This will often greatly help the visitors make up their mind about the rental.
- Vacations - vacations are periods when a resource cannot be rented. For example, you can have a school that always reserves courts on Monday mornings, or you can close down the courts for the winter, or you can have an unexpected problem and need 2 weeks to fix a court. All these cases can be handled by specifying a one-time or recurring vacation period. More in this FAQ
- Additional reservation data - here you can specify additional questions asked to the clients at the time of making the reservation. E.g. you may offer two options for the clay courts: an unprepared court where the client must prepare it for the game or prepared (at an extra fee) where an employee makes sure the court is ready for the game when you arrive. In other cases, it can be number of people / children participating, nationality (if required) or anything else. More in this FAQ
- Court (resource) admin - if there is a person in your company responsible for a given resource, use this option. A clear example would be if you have a driving school and each resource represents a driving instructor. The resource admin can administer given resource (add/approve/cancel reservations etc.) and perform all resource-related tasks. They also receive notifications when new reservations are made etc. More in this FAQ
- Pricing manager - here you can define your pricing table. More in this FAQ
- Customized messages - here you can specify resource-specific custom messages sent to the clients when a new reservation is made, when the reservation gets confirmed by the admin or any number of days/hours before or after the rental. More in this FAQ
- Unit names - this was already mentioned above: in case you have multiple resources of the same kind, you can assign names or number to each one and even assign reservations to given units
- Seasonal settings - if your rental conditions change depending on the season, you can enter the details here
- Hide / unhide resource - you can temporarily hide (disable) a resource if you don't want it to be visible to your clients (in places like calendar preview, resource list, search etc.)
- Delete this court (resource) - this button completely removes the resource from your site. Please note: this cannot be undone!
