Part 1 of 6: Overview of the reservation process used
In this tutorial we show how you can configure a complex reservation process involving multiple manual steps. The process starts with sending a price offer to the customer for different accommodations for their desired vacation period. Once the customer picks one of the accommodations, the reservation is entered into the system and at this point the resource becomes unavailable to other customers. Then the customer gets an automated email asking for upload of required document (e.g. signed contract). At this time the admin gets a notification and marks the reservation as internally validated. This triggers an email to the customer asking for online payment which sets the final confirmation of the reservation. The check-in and check-out events are then also monitored by the system.

Note that Planyo allows you to automate multiple reservation processes which include steps such as shopping cart, online payment, email verification, document upload, etc (see Q169.

In this process we'll use colors (see Q233) in order to store the current progress (status) of the reservation. Colors can be used in multiple filters throughout the backend and are very useful to classify reservations - the colors can have custom meanings (labels), can be triggered automatically based on events and can trigger an email notification sent to the customer or the admins.
